What any crypto currency makes successfull is trust of the people and bitcoin is just the most prominent one, that is its actual value. In comparison, AI has to deliver verifiable results. It cant rely only on marketing speech to gain trust.

and lol, no robotics.

> we don't know, nothing to see here

> ESI Energy LLC, guilty of killing 150 eagles

> how much bald eagles crashed against your house?

We dont know the statistical extend but we can measure very accurately in smaller areas especially large and endangered birds.

This is why (in my country) you have to study the local bird population before you get your permission to build your windmills. Something ESI should have done, even if we perfectly knew the statistics of all birds killed by windmills globally.

But what about migrating birds?

They are working on automation to replace the bigger system, they rely on.

China just rolled out a police drone, even though china has more than enough people to train for that job.

This is where my dystopian nightmare begins. Autonomous weapon systems, so targeted and unlimited in reach and capability, that no number of civilians thrown into the frey will make a difference. A single machine gun could have stopped the french revolution, and yes, i think humans are very much capable of pressing that button.

> I've never heard them put forth any viable alternatives

The article does the same thing. It describes symptoms but never even comes close to a propper problem descrtiption or a true solution.

> My suggestion to you is: Let’s do it all over again. We’ve got to try something

> “The Capitalist’s Case for a $15 Minimum Wage.”

No! This is not a solution either.

The solution to inequality is not the capping of the lower bound (though, its a nice gesture) because the lower income already has a hard cap: zero.

The upper bound instead stays uncapped! Wealth or inequality is the relative span between the boundaries and this article proposes something like "why cant you guys down there be a little richer" while inflations contiunes to roll and home ownership continues declines. "But hey, arent you looking forward to get that 25$/h raise, when i tell you its time?" ... "Because, look how much you earn now. We certainly life in a more equal and just society." I dont like this limited way of thinking. Its effectively trickery with numbers.

> Many of us think we’re special because “this is America.”

I assume many rich and powerful tell to themselfs stories about societal problems, their solutions and how detached their way of life from them is.

Wealth redistibution has to start at the top and to be fair, there are some rich people advocating for more taxation/regulation, but they are heavily out spent by the other side. The author is definitely on the better side but still short sighted.

I would expect less feudal outcomes in a world that calls itself free. Capital income does not reflect economic performance, its just a inheritable privilege.

Are you upset about seeing those unfortunate suckers, that dont have this privilege maybe coming to your country? Upset, that the world does work this way?

Thank you for sharing and also mentioning FS RAID solutions like zfs and btrfs.

I am in the process of creating my home NAS via nixos, "so i dont have to remember these steps". But as it seems, maintaining a RAID always involves manual steps.

I havent decided on zfs/btrfs/mdadm yet, but i am inclined to turn toward a FS solution, since they have apparently more resilience features, which mdadm lacks. Unfortunately you didnt touch that aspect of mdadm, maybe there are some knobs and alerts to tune.

> Rather, this is about capitalism

Well, its about what you measure.

A solution oriented programmer can have the best business goals in mind by not half assing a hotfix but proposing a full new featue with large budget demands.

Some managers respect and care about good software but may need to compromise on budget cuts from higher up.

I have seen it so many times.

I suspect it doesnt really work.

Maybe you know the mind numbing state of brainrot clips or excessive TV watching, back in the old days. Your alpha brainwaves go up as your consciousness tunes down. I cannot imagine this mind numbing state to create complex and lasting new knowledge.

This begs the question to define "working".

If you think like a short term, fiscal minded managerial sociopath, then yes. An easy excel exercise will show you "number goes down means world more gooder". But if you consider not just the cost but the quality and service provided as the actual value and measurable bottom line, you might not call it "working". Or second order reasoning, by considering governmental spending as economic stimulus ... libertarians are such a joke.

Doing exactly the opposite was already lengthy tested…

You must be of the geniuses that run Argentina until now… with great results…

BTW: of course a throwaway account!

What would you suggest as an alternative? Argentina had run out of other people's money to spend.

Just adobt infinte growth capitalism, where you never run out of money. /s

I dont know how argentina ended up where it is today and yes inefficient bureaucracy is a worthy problem to go after but approaching it with an ideological mindset of "government is the problem" and trim indiscriminately (haha, ofc hit mostly poor working class) will somehow mysteriously miss the actual cause of institutional corruption and regulatory capture/inefficiency.

If the cause of inflation is partly, like in the west, caused by quasi monopolies/syndicates increasing prices, i would go after them first. There are many ways to do so.

government is the problem >> hit mostly poor working class)

You have obviously not seen the video. Also you have absolutely no idea what is going on there. Poor class in Argentina is bot working class, is unemployed.

> government is the problem

Who said that?! Over bloated state is the problem. If you cannot differentiate between state and government, you should really refrain from throwing opinions in state matters.

> the cause of inflation is partly, like in the west, caused by quasi monopolies/syndicates increasing prices

Tell me you have absolutely no idea of macroeconomics without saying it…

Ill bite one last time even though you didnt really expose own oppinions/suggestios/interpretations, just ad hominem.

> poor class in argentina

Afaik argentina didnt bet on manufactoring (like eg. china did), but resource and agricultural export, the primary economic sector, and thus had to struggle for an extended period of time with foreign lenders like the IMF (whos primary motive is to establish globalized access to resources in otherwise poor countries) during the economic turmoils since covid/ukrain/global inflation. This is a recipe for desaster for any export oriented country. Eg. germany will get hit similarly but only later due to its manufactoring. Strengthening inner consumption aswell as production is the key solution here.

> who said government is the problem

First, i am aware of the differences bt gov. and state. This phrase has been touted over the decades by many top tier politicians (to serve the private sector by sabotaging the public) like reagan, theatcher and even milei said it indirectly (and making a joke of himself by ignoring market failures and monopolies) [1] That you dont know this phrase does make you look a bit uneducated.

Telling me i have no idea about the causes of inflation but not even giving a hint of where and why is just cheap. Your first comment displayed severe botched reasoning, by framing me as one of those geniuses who have been running the country. You saw my throwaway handle and didnt really engage with counter arguments or looked at my comment history. You dont know me but yet you seem certain, like a typical superficial ideologue.
