OpenSCAD: The Programmer's Solid 3D CAD Modeller
A few years ago I worked with some fellow artist to design a rubiks cube around a large steel ball bearing using OpenSCAD. We machined the pieces out of aluminum (using a sweet 5-axis mill) and glued magnets into them.
