Yeah, and for me the benchmarks support the idea that a good enough CPU is all that is necessary to partner with a more expensive GPU if the machine is mainly used for gaming.

I think the extension of that is if one is looking to upgrade a gaming system, the GPU would be the best part to replace and the 'old' CPU will likely still be able to provide a good gaming experience.
