The data is mildly interesting but the detailed analysis sort of misses the underlying meta. Between very high prices and modest generational performance increases there are few compelling reasons to upgrade desktop computers as frequently as we used to.
Yeah, and for me the benchmarks support the idea that a good enough CPU is all that is necessary to partner with a more expensive GPU if the machine is mainly used for gaming.
I think the extension of that is if one is looking to upgrade a gaming system, the GPU would be the best part to replace and the 'old' CPU will likely still be able to provide a good gaming experience.
