The Story of Sugru (sugru.com)

FYI you can make something very similar by mixing silicon sealant and chalk powder/cornstarch

That's kind of neat. I haven't used sugru before, I feel like if I just wanted to try it out I would buy the name brand, of course, but if I needed something similar in bulk I will remember this!

My most successful Sugru fix was the following.

I had two non-working phone holders for my car. One was a good fit for my phone, but was supposed to stick to the windscreen and didn't stick properly. The other was for an old phone, but it fitted well in the air vents.

Using sugru I was able to join together the parts from each contraption into one which fitted nicely in the air vents but held my new phone.

For the right job, Sugru is pretty useful stuff.

Adding to that, it is very good for wrapping around the ends of cords like chargers and headphones to stop them fraying (Apple products were very prone to this for a while)

I found an interesting use for Sugru. I've found out that the little plastic piece at the end of the hose and that constitutes part of the nozzle of windshield fluid assemblies is a two part piece of plastic that is held together solely by friction/fitting, it doesn't lock or snap, and when held in the hand, the two sides of it can come apart rather easily. One piece normally is pressed into the hose, the other piece (nozzle) into the hood, and then those plastic pieces fit together.

Apparently the spray/pump power for my windshield fluid is enough to make the hose side of this assembly "pop away" from the nozzle underneath the hood, causing it to fall somewhere and spray fluid between the heat shield and hood.

Sugru was perfect to hold the two sides of that piece together so that it never pops away again. So far it has held up great.

Invested in them and lost all my money

Aside: while the website says it’s pronounced ‘sue-grue’ I tend to say ‘shug-rue’.
