Apple fell [...] Mac Pro was probably the ultimate expression of this.

You should take a look at, well, Apple's 30-odd-year catalog. Various industrial design screwups pop up fairly regularly and they're invariably interpreted as a profound insight into whatever it is people think Apple is doing horribly wrong at the particular time.




Just look at the original Macintoshes, the lack of a cooling fan meant the machines suffered from pretty bad chip creep.

The official solution was to pick your machine up and drop it from a height of several inches to re-seat the chips.

Absolutely hilarious.


I think that was the Apple III. You don't want to be dropping a CRT.


I just looked it up again, you're exactly right.

Yeah, sudden jolts really wouldn't be healthy for the stem on a CRT.
