Funny, I remember working at a software security company, in the digital marketing department, and realizing "programming is essentially the language of an elevated priesthood".

I agree with the premise of the article. I think at some people at some companies indeed unnecessarily complicate the software they build, in part, to protect themselves: to make their product appear better by preemptively complicating it in the name of some claimed benefit.

A technical moat is the level of complexity associated with developing a product. It's commonly associated with software as a service (SaaS) business models, but the same idea applies to direct-to-consumer retail. The most successful companies have a product that is complicated to produce [emphasis added] https://www.airhouse.io/blog/technical-moat

I'm late-30s.

About to start working on a personal project involving cement: making planters for small fruit trees.

The reason: to learn more about cement, since my plan is to set up concrete piers for a future cabin. And, to eventually learn masonry for making a concrete + rock house.

I do have a bit of back pain already from a desk IT job. However I am relatively fit and I think with more calisthenics I'll improve my back & ab muscles to reduce my back pain.

-> google drive: keep journals. such as a daily dev journal. or a daily <project> journal, where project = "learning journal" or an actual project you're building (and it might grow into a folder).

-> use chat rooms like IRC to have free Q&A sessions with experienced developers

-> check out www.roadmap.sh for ideas on which areas to grow skills in

-> ebooks at libgen.is

-> motivational speeches & music playlists (e.g. david goggins, motiversity, two steps from hell) -> video series at udemy.com (and other places, such as KodeKloud and ACloudGuru)

When are we going to outlaw (as in actually enforce laws) on intelligence agencies honey-potting politicians as a strategy for foreign policy?

Because any article that talks about Terrorism yet fails to account Jeffrey Epstein style honey-pot operations which implicated people such as Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, etc... is really meaningless to me.

Justice does not exist when Laws are selectively enforced, and propagandized with "muh terrorism" or "think of teh children" by the same governments which are complicit in negligence towards massive crimes happening in the underworld of world government leaders.

I like to consider Meditation outside of any religion personally.

Meditation helps to calm the nervous system. Counting to 10 (1 count per inhale + exhale), or simply focusing on each inhale & exhale, or repeating a word or multi-word mantra, is what I do personally.

It's especially nice in a Sauna with some mystical atmospheric music (such as Anugama, one of my favorites for meditation).

I have found that it improves my ability to concentrate (especially useful when studying or working) and to calm myself in stressful situations.

TLDR: Water is wet. Sky is blue. Grass is green.

DIY:

-> excel cell: rest api call

-> send request to your own python web app: run python function. send back the output.

I was invited into an in-person interview in downtown San Francisco for a role on a digital marketing team at Adobe. I was interviewed one by one, by three potential colleagues (all women).

One of them condescendingly asked me if I voted for Trump, simply because I am originally from a non-blue state.

It was very strange, anti-toxic/toxic, and came out of nowhere. It made me consider secretly filming & voice recording interviews, especially in the SF Bay Area where people are a bit more influenced by political trends.

oops, typo--

"anti-toxic/toxic" --> meant to say "anti-social/toxic"

Well, did you? lol.

If you have time available, consider taking an entry level inside-sales job for a few weeks or months.

They're typically OK with short term, because anyone can do the job. It just takes being able to tolerate making 100-200 phone calls per day.

A little sales experience is helpful, especially when it comes to how to present a product and how to create a strategy to overcome objections to why a person doesn't want to buy.

It will also help you get used to confidently presenting ideas to strangers--despite & becoming immune to-- the risk of rejection.

I mean... I am unemployed, so that's not a bad idea at all, I'll look for some entry level sales positions in my area, cheers!

Maybe start selling your services instead?
