mean you are using C++ but only the features that dont suck, so probably 10% of the language, rest is plain C

this is such a generic statement... as long as you de-allocate on exit it wont show up as leak, that doesnt mean the app is not continuously allocating more memory, whether as bug or for a valid reason is up to you to find out...

you can try https://gperftools.github.io/gperftools/heapprofile.html setup HEAP_PROFILE_TIME_INTERVAL and look at the reports to see which code lines keep allocating memory...

2026: how to hire the right people to fix the mess of a code you have accumulated with AI.

this guy knows what hes doing, and he fcks too!

FOSS patent troll company. Agents would get employed by random companies that use linux/oss. Scan the licenses company uses, report back to HQ. First email would be from marketing "we can fix your issues", in case no or negative response, email from lawyers would follow.

for example when explaining technical topics: start by establishing common understanding of a problem boiled down to a level all engaged in conversation can understand.

add by building on the established foundation, go into more technical detail, make sure people can follow by repeating the concepts from different angles, pause and ask questions to gauge whether people are still following your chain of thought,

and the end of your monologue give space for follow up questions, repeat what you have already said if necessary. assure everybody that rewriting the codebase is only 1 story point and you and your team are working hard on it as a priority. ensure everyone you'll keep then in a loop and schedule another meeting two weeks from now where you will repeat exactly what you have said with more assurances. rinse and repeat.

> Being able to search in the past for a half-remembered conversation sounds great until you have idiotic, asinine corporate data retention policies that require anything beyond 90 days to be deleted anyway, for some bullshit reason like being open to litigation or whatever and that being subject to discovery.

dude, we work at the same company...

well any given week the answer might be different, world is not a constant

Based, but what if the AI starts holding you personally accountable.

Being a scapegoat for a Synthetic God for eternity, not muh cup a tea.

Your post is almost correct but needs a minor adjustment for clarity and correctness.

"Comments lauding findings or praising efforts seem [TO] be valued less than those that find fault."

Thank you!

See? Beneficial criticism in action.

not looking, but I noticed recruiters in Europe started to reach out again after more than a half year of radio silence

I've started getting a lot of outreach again in the US, except it's all such banal "AI" solutions that seem like wrappers on someone's LLM API. They all have 8 figure funding rounds too, which means investors believe there's something there. Is that all it takes right now?

I get recruitment contacts fairly often as well. Mostly by email (and they don’t look automated) but also some on LinkedIn (these look more automated).

That is great news.
