Well they have funding from Microsoft, and Google is now their leading competitor...not like it's unexpected. They probably thought it was funny.

This patent crap is getting ridiculous. We should create a script to auto-generate Patent Violation Notices in masse to be sent to patent trolls. Business should be about creating value, not leeching and hurting others to steal their value and make it your own.

Well, here's the problem with that: patent trolls aren't actually operating any systems. Thus they are not violating patents - it's an asymmetric game that the troll can't lose. That's why it's so pernicious.

So to instigate a war all you'd have to do is be part of a group like Anonymous, throw out some subtle misinformation that made it seem you were acting on behalf of a government entity, then wallah, war.

This post makes it sound like it never happens, but I know that a competitor of my company that is VC funded has played around with doing exactly the same thing -- buying links. I'm not sure that VCs even know how to do due diligence on such a thing.
