sure it is. if you buy new hardware on a regular schedule (e.g. every 3 years), extending that cycle out (e.g. to every 5 years) saves you money.



And you can do things like refresh (say) the one third of the desktop computers that need a higher spec (Cad, Video &c) every two years and then 'hand down' the older boxes to the other two thirds in stages. Worked quite well in one College I worked in a few years ago.
