What about using MMS?

MMS goes over data on smart phones, right?

It has always gone over data, even on dumbphones. Sometimes it uses a separate APN though, and can be billed differently.

it does for verizon, whenever i have my "mobile data" turned off and i get a picture message, i have to turn it back on to download the pic.
