I can't tell if she's parodying herself with this bit:
The shots of my farm were breathtaking and showed not only a very good landscape design — thanks to the surveyors and landscapers who worked with me on the overall vision, much as le Notre worked with Louis XIV — they also showed me what more I can do in the future, and revealed unexpected beauty.
I mean really... she's comparing herself to Louis XIV?
"Vektor extracted the Corsair 32 gigabyte thumb drive from the inside pocket of his pea coat and slotted the stick into his Dell Inspiron's port. The solid state memory activated instantly, a small LED washing green as the operating system recognized the device. ...
The funny thing is, that spoof is basically what Gibson did seriously in the 2000s with the Bigend trilogy, setting stories in the present where he somehow gets iBooks to feel as exotic as Ono-Sendais.
Probably just you,
I haven't seen any Deliverator, nor has a girl in leather approached me in a bar asking what was I did night after night at my computer.
Well, we have autonomous drones becoming a mainstream thing (written about by TV personalities), we have anonymous distributed data transfer and even value transfer (!) networks. The government is working hard to eliminate digital privacy. Large IP holders are lobbying the government to regulate data ownership. Massive networks of anonymous users coordinate through message boards and social networks to perform human action on a massive scale. Individuals flee their home countries and become icons in international politics because they are, effectively, data smugglers. There are entire organizations dedicated to disseminating data that government interests are fighting to keep secret. Wearable electronics are coming of age. Electronic surveillance is ubiquitous. Police militarization is increasing significantly. Internet-based physible replication technologies (like 3D printers) are coming of age.
I thought this was going to be a parody article or at least anything other than a story about how Martha Stewart has a drone and loves it. But alas, Martha Stewart is more tech savvy then I have ever given her credit for. That's really awesome Martha, have fun with your drone.
This is an awesome article, Paul. I really dig the layout of your site, too. I've been flying Lumenier quads for about 6 months, and just ordered their plug-and-play gimbal for my QAV400. It arrives today!
Sharing your article with friends that want a smooth entry to drone exploration.
Battery life is short. You need at least two batteries so you can fly uninterrupted.
My parrot drone has 12 mins battery which is short. Just when you're enjoying flying the battery runs low.
