They haven't stagnated, they've regressed. 1900×1200 dells were 15". 24" 1900×1200 desktop displays are now almost all "full HD", which cuts 120px at the bottom and doesn't add a thing. IBM had >4k displays in 2001 (the T220 was 3840×2400, 4k is 3840×2160. And the T220 was a 22" monitor too, not a 40" TV), try to find even as good today.

Yep, I thought about that monitor when writing my comment, but it was late and didn't want to research it. ;)
