They're actually a Canadian company but looking at the reader, it does look like it only supports swiping the mag strip of a card.

which means chip and pin support is on their radar, as I believe Chip and Pin will be standard within 12(?) months

We don't have a chip and pin reader right now but you can use your own chip and pin system with Shopify POS.
