There's an easy solution and it's called charge them fucking money for your product.

Every bootstrapped, for-pay startup has users who invest in them. Do those get shuttered? Sure, that happens.. but with less frequency I'm sure, especially when the business is actually turning a profit. As a user, it makes sense to pay attention to the complete cost of 'free' when choosing a service.
