For those looking for a root cause why Zuck is suddenly "red pilled", he outright says that he is doing this because he sees an opening for the Trump administration to go to bat for Meta against foreign governments. He specifically notes the grievance with the EU, which he believes is arbitrarily fining US companies just to extract a pound of flesh, so to speak. He is looking for Trump to go nuclear to such events and to threaten trade wars, etc. A little protection racket, a little extortion racket. Ultimately the EU should just ban all Meta business, which they have every right to do.

As an aside, a few hilarious bits in this podcast are Rogan going off about the "Russian collusion hoax" (the one that led to some 35 guilty pleas and numerous prison sentences), seemingly having nothing to do with anything, whining about the "mainstream media" as a guy with tens of millions of subscribers and more listeners than just about any "MSM", and an hour and so in noting that he doesn't read comments online -- this was after he heralded social media being the real truth -- because that would be "delving into these people's mental illness".

"As an aside, a few hilarious bits in this podcast are Rogan going off about the "Russian collusion hoax"

There may have been people arrested, but it had nothing to do with the people the mainstream media would lead you to believe. I also find it suspect that people like Bernie Sanders (and many people on the left) loved Russia.....until they wanted to somehow use it against Trump.

You never mentioned that the Biden administration colluded with Facebook to suppress US citizens. Zuck also mentioned this. It's one of the main reasons he's going to community notes.

Leaders around the world are using this same tactic to suppress the free speech of their citizens.

"this was after he heralded social media being the real truth"

You can get closer to the truth on social media. The mainstream had a stranglehold on the free flow of information (so did Twitter, until Musk bought it).

During Covid, you couldn't go against big pharma or you would lose your job and get banned on most social media platforms. This sounds more like religion than science.

> There may have been people arrested, but it had nothing to do with the people the mainstream media would lead you to believe.

It was obvious campaign manager Paul Manafort was central. The Muller report indicted people who would otherwise have been let go. Many pled guilty to more serious crimes than lying to the FBI about the depth of their contact with known Russian representatives and agents. When Trump says, “Russia, if you’re listening…” the media portrayed that as an admission that Russia was in fact listening.

> There may have been people arrested, but it had nothing to do with the people the mainstream media would lead you to believe.

It had every bit to do with that investigation.

In my experience, people like you have this thing with "can't trust the mAinstrim meDia", but will gullibly accept things from "alternative news sources" with basically no skepticism or critical thinking.

The Russian collusion thing was exactly what most informed people think it is: Russia was actively working hard to get Trump elected -- for obvious reasons -- and a number of people in Trump's sphere were aware of it and became willing tools of it. This is proven fact. It isn't a "hoax", it was very real. And I mean, you can embrace it and say Russia should be an ally or something so it's okay, but own a position.

Every election in almost every country, outside influences try to lever the balance. That's a reality worldwide. Governments try to fight it the best they can.

"You never mentioned that the Biden administration colluded with Facebook to suppress US citizens"

While Zuck is trying hard to attack the Biden admin to pander to Trump's ego, under the Trump admin there were government groups working to fight "misinformation". e.g. Much of the hilarious dud "Twitter Files" were actually the Trump government. When the government was worried that Hunter's dick pics and drug abuse files -- which as hacked/stolen material remain banned by X's current rules -- might have Russia disinfo in it, that was actually Trump's FBI.

And how much Luigi Mangione adulation, praise, and possible copy-cat rhetoric do you think is going to be abided under the Trump admin? I'm going to guess that a lot of people are going to have a confused position about suppressing US citizens.

"You can get closer to the truth on social media."

The truth can be found on social media, hidden amongst an absolute avalanche of nonsense and noise. Joe Rogan, for instance, is a very silly man who filters everything he says through a partisan filter rendering everything he says absolutely useless because the noise is so high, while he tries to get rubes to buy AG1 nonsense.
