Note that greek colonists had reached spain[0] and spaniards have been known to keep bulls in corrals[1] connected, by a series of walled races with gates operated via overhead walkway, to circular arenas.

I wouldn't be surprised if cretans had had similar taurine arenas, which physically descended to the current spanish designs, and metaphorically descended (and inflated) to the greek myth of Asterion.
