Slightly off topic, but generally related: Project 2025 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_2025) is enough to not vote for this mad man (or any Republican for that matter). It's legitimately terrifying. Now you can also just add this article to the other 100's of reasons.
He likes to pretend that the president is King of America. Obviously this isn't true, and no, he could never actually get away with trying to do this. But it feeds his base, which seems to desperately want a return to the 19th century.
I'm not so sure about not being able to get away with it, depending on how elections shake out for congress, he might. He appointed a lot of federal judges, and the SCOTUS seems to back him.
A second term for him might look a lot like a dictator being born.
I am not a Trump supporter but the headline is completely incorrect and disingenuous. It seems like there's a game of telephone happening for the quote "you're not going to be able to sell those cars", but the context of him saying this was for an import tariff on electric cars built in Mexico by Chinese companies.
> ["you’re going to not hire Americans and you’re going to sell the cars to us. Now, we’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars, if I get elected"](https://www.rev.com/blog/transcripts/donald-trump-speaks-at-...)
I don't care to discuss the nuances of this policy and am not saying this to support him, but journalism like this taking stuff out of context and creating a strawman (even if accidental) is really irritating.
Yes, Donald Trump says a lot of things, including that "American service members are 'suckers' and 'losers'", that it's "totally unfair" that the prosecution gets to "argue last" in a criminal trial, and that "injecting" "bleach" will totally cure COVID.
Better question is why this guy is still polling ~50% in the upcoming US presidential election?
