Everyone could make a lot of money by participating in VPPs: https://electrek.co/2023/07/05/tesla-electric-customers-repo...

I'm a dev at an electricity related company and and I was amazed to learn utilities buy power for both wildly high and wildly low prices but bill the customer a constant per-unit rate. Wonder how much they will save paying n residences (inverters and cars) vs their upstream providers. And if utilities purchased 1000 units from exporting residences to meet a shortfall, how much did importing customers collectively pay for those 1000 units in their bill.

Tangent, utilities prefer people working from office where their electricity consumption can be billed at commercial rates.

If that is the case then electricity is overpriced in Australia.
