I do not care if Nazis move from X (fka Twitter) to Substack

Personally I don’t use either platforms although I used to be a bit addicted to Twitter until Musk destroyed it imho.

There are only two online content monetization models - ads/indirect or direct and both have pluses and minuses.

The news about Substack giving Nazis a platform shows us that direct monetization is not the answer, maybe until a really simple low cost micropropayment platform emerges, so we can pay for articles we like. Until somebody manages to offer privacy friendly personalization, the ads/indirect model will not be the answer.

What do you think?

I think that you are overreacting, influenced by media. I overflew the article, but it was something about 16 blogs, if I'm correct? 16 out of how many? Did you have personal experience or contact with them?

Maybe monetisation at all is not the answer: at the turn of the century, people were willing to blog, and blogged well, without asking to be compensated for their logorrhoea.

No matter what ideology one follows, the pervasive nature of platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and other interactive social media is inevitably problematic. This issue extends to platforms like X and Substack as well, which, despite their unique offerings, are not immune to the fundamental pitfalls of social media. They are breeding grounds for propaganda and contribute to a harmful addiction to endless, mindless scrolling. These platforms often become echo chambers, reinforcing misinformation and diminishing the quality of discourse. The risk is universal; irrespective of personal beliefs or ideologies, anyone can get infected by this detrimental cycle.

Both sides are to blame, left and right.

If you can show me one Nazi on sub stack, I’d be thrilled. I mean an actual Nazi, who promotes whites supremacy, and who wants collusion between the corporations and the government.

Why would you be thrilled? Are you looking for such content?

I found a Nazi pretty easily, with the name @cwspangle

Tons of content against jews, muslims, has said "heil hitler" multiple times, links to Nordfront

Edit: I found another @madamez

See this on the Verge Substack says it will not remove or demonetize Nazi content / Substack co-founder Hamish McKenzie’s plan to ‘strip bad ideas of their power’ is to profit from disseminating them as widely as possible.

I mean, I don’t think the ol’ Nazis will be moving from one to another; both are increasingly friendly homes for them. People who would prefer not to deal with Nazis might of course consider moving.
