It seems to me the federal govt can't make up its mind about Musk. On the one hand the Administration detests him on a personal and political level, while on the other (including and perhaps mainly DoD) he is professionally and technically indespensable.

So we see these inexplicable charges and investigations such as rocket pieces falling in the desert, cancelled a little while later when it turns out they can't launch enough military stuff.


I read through some but not all of the rationale. This seems crazy. I used to live in a relatively rural area (think 10mi from the nearest town of 500 and another 30 miles away from the nearest "city"). All of the other options aside from Starlink are basically a joke.
