I fully support critical ignoring, and would just note that it has to be done programmatically. That is, you have to block things before they appear on the screen, through many of the tools mentioned in this thread. (For those who have to interact with social media professionally, but want to limit its lure, New Feed Eradicator is a godsend. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/news-feed-eradicat...)

The reason you have to "ignore" them before you even see them is because of the "clickbait asymmetry principle", a corollary to Brandolini's bullshit asymmetry principle. Don't spend time vetting the stuff that wants to behaviorally addict you.
