My family had the Sinclair hifi kit based around an Op Amp. It was noisy as all hell and the instructions were shit, my dad blew two power transistors before he realised they weren't adequately isolated from the case. Also the balance between channels wasn't great, but it was a cheap kit and we replaced an ex ww2 army radio amp with it. Finally my dad got gifted a quad22 which was simply superb.
