Disasterous Experiment: the real rason behind hated return to work push (news.com.au)

For empire builders, ladder climbers and office politicians the office building is the key battle stage.

For people mainly interested in office romance and gossip, the office is a free coffeebar.

For people actually working, the office is mostly a soul sucking hellscape.

This is a good article making the case for adapted, diverse working environments because that helps productivity and creativity.

May I suggest we call it “return to the office push” and not “return to work”. It’s not that we haven’t done anything while working from home.

Yeah definitely but I followed the title, as per HN guidelines.

Sorry. Didn’t mean the title of your submission. Was meant as a comment on how the whole debate is framed.

Elon musk says people should not work from home. but he lives in the office and is the owner.

so he's working from home?

He doesn't own homes at all.

And Twitter hasn't been paying the rent for offices, some stopped paying rent after the acquisition, some several months later. News stories about the issue haven't restarted rent payments. So it doesn't look like a case of "oops we fired all the people who do X" (where X could be 'pay rent' or 'legal compliance').

If ever dragged back to the office, I pledge to not ever introduce a new idea ever again.
