I listen to his podcast on a regular basis and he does realize and emphasize that his job is different than most people jobs. The type of job his advice is most applicable to is the typical office job, involving people who receive a lot of emails, slack messages, and other requests during the day. This can really damage real productivity, due to context switching and 'being available' all the time. He gives strategies to minimize disruptions and ways to apply these.

With regard to "banging the same drum", it's true that the core of his advice stays the same, but I really like his way of approaching these kind things. And repetition isn't necessarily bad. Being in a office job myself, I sometimes need to be reminded of the simple fact that I'm far more productive when I work in predetermined time blocks focusing on output. It's easy to fall into the trap of opening new emails and Slack messages all day long and wondering where all your time went.
