I understand that the trade offs WhatsApp are making here, but even Telegram has E2EE in their similar offering (even though they have questionable security practices)
Just a bit saddened about Signal's progress of upsruping WhatsApp, last I checked they removed SMS, added Stories and stickers (?)
I'm not sure if these are significant enough for mass adoption. What Facebook are really good at is copying competitors quickly and Signal can learn a thing or two from that.
That's even worse than I thought, perhaps another edge for Signal to introduce something similar here before WhatsApp gets there and takes even more mindshare.
