Ask HN: Is Paul Graham's article, “Change Your Name”, still relevant today?

PG wrote this article in 2015, http://www.paulgraham.com/name.html, which unequivocally states that the ".com" TLD should be prioritized above all else.

I'm curious if this still feels true?

From my perspective, there's been an explosion of TLDs over the past decade and ".com" feels like less of a given than it was prior. I've got docs.rs and twitch.tv open right now and I keep thinking about how poignant the domain brr.fyi is for a blog about cold weather.

I'm trying to decide if there's actually a change occurring here, or if I'm just biased because it's a lot easier, and cheaper, to find a short, trendy domain name when I allow myself to consider non-traditional TLDs.

Yes it's still true. The example I have in mind is chess.com and lichess.org.
