May Flowers Spring COSMIC Showers (system76.com)

To be honest after switching to Pop_OS! several years ago I have no regrets. The system just _works_. And curiously enough, even though it should be as same as Ubuntu, Ubuntu does not work as seamlessly as this distro. Bluetooth, for example, U. does not want to register my keyboard without some terminal shenanigans; P does. I could not even make my bluetooth speakers work with U, yet with P it just purrs.

With Pop_OS! my distohopping days were over. I install it on my devices and I forget it. I am sure their COSMIC DE will be awesome to use.

I think this is because they have skin in the game. They sell computers and they make sure they work as flawlessly as it can be with the OS they are developing. They are not selling their devices in my country but who knows, if they start to do that they have a ready customer here.

IIRC Pop kernels are upgraded at a faster pace than Ubuntu. That could explain the compatibility improvements.

The Systems76 scheduler looks really interesting. One of the reasons iOS and MacOS devices feel so "smooth" is they have a scheduler under the hood that prioritizes whatever it is you are currently working on. Really exciting to have something like that for the Linux ecosystem now.

Love the work System76 and Redhat do to bring HDR support to Linux. It's only reason I have a dualboot Windows.

Will definitely buying from them when they ship to my country.

I see they have a workspaces applet that has "row" and "column" in the source code. I'd love to see a GNOME-like DE that supports 2D workspaces again so I can happily abandon my GNOME extension (Workspace Matrix).

I couldn't figure out how to run COSMIC so I couldn't test if the applet really supports 2D workspaces, though.

This is pretty big news, PopOS and the team behind system76 are one of the first few people to bring tiling to the mainstream. I hope their new endeavour can bring new improvements to this space as it's badly needed.

This is very exciting to see. I invested in several System76 machines for my team, and have been extremely happy with the computers and distribution. Coming to Pop_OS! from Ubuntu has been wonderful - systems upgrade properly, external devices work, and my team is productive. It reminds me of when I first started to use Mac OS X - things just work. The current Gnome/COSMIC is slick and I am looking forward to using their new COSMIC DE when it comes out.

Man I am so excited for usable HDR in a Linux DE. Might even be encouraged to buy a System76 laptop at this point. Very good news about the accessibility work as well :)

I'm glad System76 is flying the flag of a strong desktop environment for their distro. It's been a bit of a vacuum since Ubuntu stepped away from Unity.

Those are nice boxes for reasonable prices. Intriguing.
