The difference is that it's not uncommon for the same person to be good at both systems programming and rails development, while the elusive quantum physicist-marine biologist is far more rare.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are more people looking at the effects and applications of quantum mechanics in biology than there are people who split their time between systems programming and rails development.


I've not found this to be the case.
