I don’t recall seeing it before Christmas Day before.

You forgot "Ask HN:" in the title.

You started a hellish flamewar and then perpetuated it, breaking the site guidelines extremely badly. That's not ok and I've banned the account.

If you don't want to be banned, you're welcome to email hn@ycombinator.com and give us reason to believe that you'll follow the rules in the future. They're here: https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html. Note that they apply regardless of how bad someone else's comments are or you feel they are.

Would it be nonsensical if a web forum hosted in Pakistan decided to stop recognizing Ramadan, and the users complained?

That’s the spirit. Get it all out your system, and look, HN now has the christmas banner up, just like it always has, on Christmas Day. But you sure got a good bit of raging before that didn’t you. Next year maybe you can start complaining already in early November that people are “killing Christmas” because it hasn’t yet changed!

We've banned this account for abusing HN for flamewar and ideological battle. That's not ok here, regardless of what you're flaming for or against. Please don't create accounts to break HN's rules with.

Trust me, I harbor no hate towards the people who every year scream that Christian’s are being suppressed and that “the establishment” is trying to kill Christmas. I just think it’s hilarious. Christmas is probably the biggest religious event celebrated across the world. But we are supposed to believe that some evil “they” are mindlessly working year after year to kill it off. Christmas starts mid October these days and lasts until mid January, every tv show, website and store makes a big deal of making it clear that they are part of the celebration, it’s not exactly dying. But if ever an, excuse the language, “old fart” hears anyone saying “happy holidays” they start going on a rant about how they’re being oppressed and how some nameless “they” are trying to kill Christmas. Typically these are the same old farts who get extremely offended if they say merry Christmas to someone Jewish who answers back “and a happy Hanukkah” because they feel like every religious should celebrate their narrow view of the world.

Do you realize how intolerant and non-inclusive you sound?

"What is the deal with people needing LGBTQI+ awareness to permeate every aspect of life the entire month each June? Is it really that important that every single website you visit recognize it? Do you really need every coffee shop to have rainbow-themed cups? Why do we need every talk radio show and TV program talking about gay and transgender issues for a month or more? How does that help these people enjoy Pride?"

Let's take the Christphobia down a notch, bud.
