I don't mind using "×" myself in these cases. "6 × 950", and had I been writing properly I should have been using non-breaking spaces.



I am fond of the multiplication character too, but

1) it's not on any standard keyboard layout

2) it requires copying and pasting from a character map, alt code or html entity

3) it is usually reserved for mathematics


On AZERTY keyboards on Linux, I can use Alt Gr + ; (semicolon) to type ×.
