There's a park in silicon valley, baylands park, where people flew R/C aircraft all the time.

I remember one guy would fly this ridiculous plane, which seemed to be a rectangular board with an engine on top.

It was the aerodynamic equivalent of a flounder (which has aesthetics by comparison), or maybe a cafeteria tray without the lip.
