Is there enough extant Neanderthal DNA in some Homo Sapiens lineages to restore Homo Neanderthalensis by back crossing? Actually doing so would almost certainly be highly unethical, but I still wonder if it’s possible.



Probably not.

But I think we have pretty complete Neanderthal DNA from fossils, so, with a few more decades of gene engineering, they could probably be created.

Then I guess we'd have to ask them if their creation was ethical :)
