I agree with your framework, but what happens when the sources I deem reliable can't trust their own eyes?
A lot of people point to Photoshop not breaking truth, but in my experience, we simply rely on video instead. When I served on a grand jury, essentially all of the non-testimony evidence I saw was video, and it was incredibly compelling. Neutering the reliability of that evidence will hurt.
