A flight simulator that runs in the browser (fpvsim.com)

This was very frustrating to use. Forced signup, odd controls, no help... I just closed the tab.

Kind of a waste of so much coding effort to turn off half your audience with a forced sign up and such a weird message like "guest play has been deprecated".

Thanks for the feedback! Op here. I'll definitely consider adding the guest access back. Login is requried to be able to save all of your preferences on the server. Also compared to other simulator that requires a 5Gb of download and signup, this is much lower bar?

I think the point is you posted the link for us to take a look at it? We didn't come to the site with some expectation other than being able to use it, which we can't if we don't have a controller or an account.

Please do excuse me for putting this behind a signup screen! Wasn't expecting so much interest from outside of the drone community. A controller is not necessarily needed. Keyboard emulation would allow you to play. It does require some basic understanding of how to fly drones though.

Is there some reason you chose not to use local browser storage? Seems to me it's both more convenient (and private) for the user, and less work for you to host.

The goal is to support seamless cross-device transition (supporting both desktop and mobile devices), and also allow gamers to post their laptimes on leaderboard. Note that this is not a toy project, the goal is to actually compete with commercial flight simulators built with Unity or UE engine.

Ehm, ever heard of cookies? Local storage?

Thanks for the feedback! Op here. I'm here to help! Please see below for the signup requirement. For controls, do you use gamepad? Or keyboard or an RC radio controller? It's recommended to use a professional radio controller or gamepad to fly.

Could someone fix the title to include that this is a "drone" flight simulator?

geo-fs.com is another browser based flight simulator (for normal planes).

This one is amazing! No login, free to play, many options and even multiplayer. Took me a while to figure out that it's mouse controlled. Good fun non the less.

Clickable link for mobile: https://geo-fs.com/

Thank you, will definitely try it out!

Tried it, does not react to any conventional keypresses, I am just flying to nowhere. What a pity, seemed to be fun.

Thanks for the interest! Did you use gamepad? Or keyboard or an RC radio controller to fly? It's recommended to use a professional radio controller or gamepad for best experience.

For flying in the browser, this playable MS Flight Simulator Museum is still my favorite :) https://s-macke.github.io/FSHistory/

I happen to have a radio controller which I use to fly air planes. This actually flies pretty good! Hoping it could be free though.

Login required....

I wanted to try it but login required :(

Luckily it doesn't do any email validation so you could just enter junk to access it.

That's true so far, but in order to use a lot of other features, email verification is required. So recommending to register with a valid email.
