For those of us not familiar with the jargon: "depose" in this context means to bring them in for testimony, with transcript to be brought to court as evidence (without requiring the person to show up to court in person), i.e. for a deposition. They're not being ordered out of power.


Does that mean that he can get in trouble if he lies?


Yes. He’ll be under oath.


Pleading the fifth isn't lying.


Kinda awesome that you can be obscenely wealthy, but you still gotta turn up to court, or else. I guess Carlos Ghosn is an exception.


Can’t blame him when Japan has a nearly 100% conviction rate.
