Ask HN: Advice on hiring remote candidates for first time founder
5 points by gkrishna on March 3, 2022 | hide | past | favorite | 2 comments
I hiring new devs (both senior and junior) for my product and I am looking for some advice.

I wanna know: - What to look for in a candidate? - How should I assess them? - What are some common red flags to look for?

Your question is too general to give you any elaborate answer, but I'll state the obvious and say that communication is one of the most important aspects in remote work. If you feel there's something off in the way the interviewee expresses her thoughts during the interview you'll most likely struggle to exchange ideas later on too.

Can you hire people you know?
