Coinbase had an ad during superbowl (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zLsUhOCqyU) which was just a QR-code moving around on the screen.

Afterwards Twitter was full of security people complaining this teaches people to scan random QR-codes, and that this apparently moved security awareness back several years.

I thought that by now "everyone" had seen this part of the discussion, but it seems like I was wrong and it was just my little Twitter bubble.

Thanks, that is a bit of context that non-USians (or in this case those that are not in a security-related echo chamber) are unlikely to know.
