I doubt most of this is related to LTE. Other megacities seem to handle it relatively fine including in countries with similar mobile internet adoption. Meanwhile, in London some mobile operators at least in my travels seem to have nearly useless (slower than 2G) internet connectivity across large swaths of the central area.

I’m sure 5G will help, but unless I’m missing something I would suppose LTE could provide far better access in UK cities today.
