I’m curious about what dataset this uses for elevation data. Did you use NOAA LiDAR data? I’d guess not since it only seems to show shade from buildings and not trees.

Is there a more widespread dataset that only has buildings in some vector format?

I believe this data is mostly SRTM 30m resolution. The building shape and height data is pulled from OpenStreetMaps.

Ah got it. Have you thought about trying to use a more detailed dataset that gets shadows from other obstructions as well?

I guess it highly depends on the use case but it seems to me like trees can play a big factor in the overall shade.
