Are they pads for extra DRAM on the bottom left of the PCB?

Will we see hobbysts with a heat gun adding ram to these things? BGA soldering with tweezers and a heat gun doesn't look too tricky on those because the pad spacing is easily within what you could manage with tweezers.

The actual pin layout isn't a standard I recognize - so I assume apple has ordered custom made ram chips ..




That's probably far too distant for LPDDR. I guess these pads are for NAND flash, and RAM is right next to processor under the heatsink.


The RAM is "unified" and on the same chip as the CPU and GPU.
