The initial study was very heavily affected by sampling bias (medical personnel with hallway rumors and unbureocratic access to screening techniques). Add to that that the risk of blood clots is strongly increased by typical isolation at home due to a lack of regular movement/exercise, and the (significant, but still very low) heightened incidence rate isn't enough to deny people vaccination.
