The example given is a countries list that has the USA at the top, then all the countries below it in alpha order. This is offensive to anyone who isn't in the USA - it basically screams 'we made this app/service for Americans, you global users need not apply'.
Yes! I was thinking the same thing. I would expect the author to suggest automatically guessing the user's location instead of blindly placing your own country at the top.
