If you use Carta to manage your cap table, they will spam all your investors (twitter.com/paulg)

It's bad form for someone like PG. No context nothing no story about why and a tweet no less.

The issue is not why the HN crowd would be interested in what PG says. It's why PG says this along the lines of someone who got pissed off at Comcast or Facebook and then decided to call them out w/o any specific context as to why or what happened. And no saying 'spammed' does not stand on it's own and shouldn't no matter who says it.

Would PG or YC like if all hacker news was 4 or 5 words doing similar? Of course not.

Added: Also 'spam' is an easy term to throw out there. Truth is my guess is either there is a reaons for this or the TOS states it. And with any TOS if you don't read or don't understand that is on you.

And I am sure PG and YC who have invested in a large number of companies would not like if some other investor did the same to their companies.

PG should also probably mention that he is invested in a competitor to Carta.

Why are random celebrity Tweets always voted to the top here? Where's the context? What are they spamming them with?

This is not a forum for PaulG, DHH and others to rant against companies on, yet it seems to be more and more the case nowadays.

If there's an article with actual content that should be posted and discussed here, not a Tweet.

I’m guessing that people are finding it relevant because PG is an authority on that topic, and his interests are well aligned with founders, of which there are a significant number that read HN and may need cap table management software. It’s certainly relevant to me as someone who may soon be in the market for something to do cap table management. Also, it’s PG, and a lot of us found this place and YC because we liked his essays. Not random celebrities’ tweets, very specific celebrities’ tweets.

This topic (on a tool like Carta) would be worthy of discussion in a startup forum no matter the author, correct? I see part of your sentiment regarding context, but this can turn pretty constructive with the question that’s also on my mind: Has anyone experienced this by using Carta? I am actually in the process of thinking about switching to them.

Well I haven't received any spam from Carta so possibly they're only spamming celebrity investors...

One more reason to bootstrap instead of taking on investors.

Carta recruiters have been spamming me lately. Good company to work for? Anyone have experience?

I interviewed for a position there a couple of years ago.

Their pay wasn't close to competitive with my other 2 offers.

They seemed like an interesting place to work, although I believe they laid off a bunch of people shortly thereafter.

Thanks!
