Interesting. Lists the following GitHub organizations as "launch partners": @aws @americanexpress @cognitect @daimler @indeed @MLHacks @microsoft @newrelic @notionhq @rudderstack @stripe @substackinc
But no words on what they actually have donated so far. Checking github.com/sponsors tells nothing, nothing on the GitHub profiles of either the companies nor other people who definitely would have received money from those companies if they were actually already donating (which company doesn't have employees using vim and/or curl?)
"[these companies] paving the way for what it means to invest back into the open source community " seems a lot like marketing speak with no data published to back it up.
The organization profile page has been updated with a Sponsoring tab, but only two of the launch partners appear to have active sponsorships. Maybe there's a setting they need to toggle to make them public?
Thanks, missed that page. Of those two, only Stripe has donated to an organization. That leaves us with a mystery about what launching partners really mean.
I appreciate how everything has been structured for this event. An easy to follow schedule, "channels" for different things (Enterprise, Developer, etc). Kudos, GitHub.
Uh .. am I missing something, or does anything pro-Microsoft just get completely downvoted now.
+1 for the virtual conference interface. Really clear at-a-glance info architecture and schedule. Modest deco elements, dark mode, and great content overall. Wonder if source code is available ;)
The bit about Nate taking the flack for it being delayed was pretty good IMO. No insider acknowledge, but regardless of why it may have taken so long it's nice to see the buck stop at the top, at least publicly, even if done in a comical way.
