Don't you think that the plural nominatives without an apostrophe are less ambiguous? I mean

or
FSTMs
.

OK thanks for the advice. I will do that from now on. I notice there is an exception for single letters and single digit numbers.

RNNs looks to me like an acronym with a lowercase part. Like “RNN simple” or something. The apostrophe is less ambiguous in this context.
