A far larger amount of money is devoted to the healthcare and welfare of the aged. Italy devotes 17% of its GDP to pensions, for example.

In the middle of the cold war USA defense spending never exceed 10%.




Seems to me both countries would be better off spending even more than they are on improving people's living, and less on killing strategies.
