Facebook is trying to get attention worldwide by playing this master political role amongst other things, which is just a decoy because everyday it's losing real world relevance - less people use it, less and less.
I don't believe this to be true. It would only be true if you consider 'internet' can change meaning VERY FAST and almost inevitably. Because that's what happens, everywhere in the world: people get really excited about new tech and possibilities and explore everything about it, very fast. Facebook is trying to build itself in social/cultural fabric as some sort of institution of democracy or something like that, when in fact it's only a fad. This can change in almost a glimpse of an eye. Anyone who has taken the time to study platform strategy will know this.
