I would have it start totally zoomed out, then scale inward, Google Earth style.

The ability to "walk down the street" and use keyboard controls would make this far more interesting as well.

As it stands, it's a cool implementation, but I wouldn't expect it to catch on the same way as milliondollarhomepage did.
