That's also not how evolution works.

Some whale species live in excess of 200 years. They've only had a generation or two; evolution doesn't happen that fast.

I am no animal rights fundamentalist, but I found that new item so depressing, it sounds like "we found this awesome >130yo whale, which survived a hunt in 1890. Well it didn't survive this one, the sucker."


Yeah, I also found that to be very sad, especially given how smart whales are. "Not these assholes again!"
